Vertigoes

Vertigoes

Vertigoes, a large-scale installation by Nate Green and Owen Schoppe adapts forms from toys, games, and amusement rides to create an interactive and kinetic environment where sculpture fosters group engagement and interaction. Spanning two rooms, Vertigoes contains two interrelated sculptures- a carousel and a group of vertically over-lapped teeter-totters surrounded by 75 music boxes attached to the windows of the gallery. Through physical interaction with the sculpture?s mechanical and analog systems audience members will initiate the movement, displays of light and elements of sound, bringing forth the artists vision for Vertigoes. Acceptance of this invitation to engage in events occurring within the sculpture results in mesmerizing and disorienting effects.

From the artists statement- Magic can be made with the simplest of things- balls, blocks, jump ropes, and hula-hoops. Once animated through the imagination, such inert objects become mysterious and miraculous. They are the nucleus of our play, influencing how we interact with one another through their design.

You Can’t Fit in These Pants, Yo!

Tomorrow night is going to be something special. Ninjasonik is debuting their music video for Tight Pants at Happy Ending, plus it’s Halloween. We know you’ve been celebrating since Friday, but throw your costume back on, throw it down and call in sick to work the next day.

Check out some video from last week’s show at the Knitting Factory.

A Closed Casket for Neckface

neckfaceclosedcasket.jpg

Closed Casket, the first NYC show by Neckface is opening tomorrow, not surprisingly on Halloween, at Dactyl. The opening reception is tonight at 64 Grand Street and the show runs through November 24th.

With the upcoming show, Dazed Digital just published “an uncomfortably intimate look into Neckface’s world.” You can read and watch it here. Intimate, yes. Uncomfortable, no (besides the photos at The Box).

We Got Mass Appeal

massappeal.jpgIt was pleasantly surprising to see Razor Apple in the latest issue of Mass Appeal magazine. A feature story on the wide world of graffiti websites, internet beef and general e-thuggery makes mention of the whole Made U Look drama and our wild speculations. Thanks dudes!

Now seriously, let’s get this rumor mill cracking. Email ra@razorapple.com with the latest dirt and unsubstantiated rumors.

(Good looking out for us, Uneek!)
