Razor Apple Scratches Way to Win

Thursday night found us at Scratch DJ Academy in Greenwich Village. Redken held a press event for “urban experiment” a lower-case only line of hair products with names like “velvet gelatine”, “nylon wax” and “enamel gel”. Despite not using hair product and being even less inclined when it sounds like something dredged from the frothiness of Newton Creek, turntable lessons with Grandwizard Theodore, Erni Vales painting and an open bar were too good to resist.
Daddy Dog from the 5th Platoon and Grandwizard Theodore started things off with a simple scratch lesson. This led up to a competition among the models and media types who had adopted names like DJ Doggy’s Mama and DJ Jap. Our own Nate Dungicore entered the fray and easily took first place. Although one judge labeled him a ringer, he took home some new Bose headphones for the effort.
