We Livin in a Police State

Are you living in a No-Freedom Zone? Chances are good you are. OnNYTurf has created a great map illustrating which City Councilmembers support and oppose the NYPD’s proposed rule changes that severely limit our First Amendment rights.

10 or more bicyclists or pedestrians, who travel more than two city blocks without fully complying with traffic laws, including jaywalking, are required to have a parade permit.

30 or more bicyclists or pedestrians who obey traffic laws are required to have a parade permit.

Aside from the obvious obliteration of free speech and assembly, the NYPD has no business making legislative decisions. Only the New York City Council, as elected representatives of the people, have the authority to make laws affecting these fundamental rights.

Call your Councilmember and call Speaker Christine C. Quinn and tell them to stand up for your rights by opposing these rule changes. Do not let the police make the rules!
