Jace Mural on Houston Street

After you’ve spent a couple hours fighting for a crowded glimpse of 11 Spring Street, you might wander up to Houston and Bowery to see this Jace mural. Since Jace went over the nice illegal pieces they had running, TABOO and HOST18 took the spot back with a couple tags. A bunch of the artists putting up work in the building have been putting up work on the street too.

YES! Never disrespect real graffiti! Now we can imagine why DYM took over 11 spring street as well.
By somewhat damaged on December 17th, 2006 at 10:32 amso true man fuck that shit taboo and host owned that spot and if im not mistaken they went over to the spring wall and did fills over the jace section he had on the wall

if this guy came to new york and blatantly went over two huge, illegal pieces in a prominent spot, getting a couple tags over his “art” as punishment means he got off easy. i wish he got caught out there, he needs a lesson. this whole 11 spring street thing is a joke.
By please on December 18th, 2006 at 12:27 pmFuck that Spring street nonsense…fuckin’ steet art jocks goin’ over real graff…just look what W.(ac)K. Inter(w)act did to me on that corner…splattered paint all over my (illegal) shit that was running for years…what a fuckin’ punk….’07- take back the streets from the art school lames!
By SeMeN on December 25th, 2006 at 8:13 pmIt’s funny when people who can’t think beyond tagging and fill-ins get all bent out of shape because someone else is getting a little light. They’re all like, “Hey, look at me over here – I’m real!” I’ve got no style and can’t conceptualize – but I’m real!”
By chowtime on December 27th, 2006 at 6:17 pmI agree with you Chowtime, however you’re observation doesn’t really apply here because Host and Taboo do think beyond tagging and fill-ins. Jace went over the pieces they had done. I’m not totally disagreeing with you, but I think it’s funny people are surprised that they would come back and cross Jace out after that.
By Arthur on December 27th, 2006 at 6:30 pmI don’t know about the Houston St thing – I was speaking to all these comments about Spring St. Are they really complaining that a nothing throw up got covered – or are they jealous that people were lining up around the block to see the work?
By chowtime on December 28th, 2006 at 4:33 pmHOST and TABOO killed it. I never heard of this JACE, the only JACE i heard of JACE BA who bombs freights and works at a european paint distro spot. Street artists get a little fame, and they all of a sudden become graf. artists……thats bullshit.
tags, throw-ups, and blockbusters beats streeet art anyday!!!!!!
