Paying the Rent: Selling Plasma

paying-the-rent.jpg

At the end of the month, our thoughts turn to the wonderful prospects of the new month ahead, namely flipping to a new photo on our Labrador puppy wall calendar and paying the rent. But once that fat check has been written it’s easy to get careless. It’s time to admit buying those Yo MTV Raps Puma Clydes and fake Neckface drawings off Ebay was a bad idea. You can’t make ends meet, but lucky for you Razor Apple has a quick money solution after the jump: selling plasma.

Selling Plasma

If you don’t have bills to pay, you could be a good Samaritan and just give your blood away. However, you need money and blood banks will gladly spin your blood through a machine, separate the plasma, and give the rest back with a wad of cash. Plasma is the yellowish fluid part of your blood that carries red blood cells, white blood cells, and nutrients (or narcotics and artery clogging fats if you roll like that). It’s especially to hemophiliacs and people requiring other blood transfusions. Because plasma helps with blood clotting, it is especially useful to hemophiliacs among others.

It may seem weird to sell a part of your body, but since plasma regenerates just like hair, selling plasma is like a haircut, only the barber pays you. Besides the dehydrating effect (meaning your alcohol tolerance will be very low afterwards) and the possibility of collapsing a vein, selling plasma is an easy way to make between 20 and 30 dollars per visit, twice a week. Unfortunately, you’ll have to take the PATH train to North Brunswick, New Jersey.

Difficulty: Low. However, motivating oneself to go to New Jersey may prove too difficult.

Pay: $20 - 30 for a couple hours of “work”.
