Dash Snow, the New Face of AG Jeans

dash-snow-adriano-goldschmied.jpg

Within the immaterial Lucky Magazine is artist, Dash Snow modeling in an ad for Adriano Goldschmied. Consider that this is the man who takes photos with a camera “made of wood, palm leaves and cocaine” and creatively combined newspaper clippings and semen in ‘Fuck the Police’. In his own words from Paper Magazine:

I’m not a businessman. [But] my business used to be and still is thievery, to some extent. I came across a camera, which I thieved when I was 16 and started taking pictures. I’ve been partying for years, probably since I was 11. I did my first line of coke when I was 13 years old and I’ve been partying every night and taking pictures ever since. Everything’s a blur and every night is New Year’s as far as I’m concerned. [When I’m at a party, I look for] a dark corner, a wallet, a bag of blow and some love to go.

Though we don’t question Dash Snow’s motives for taking the job ($30,000 is a nice bit of scratch), we do question Adriano Goldschmied’s reasons for choosing Snow and barely showing off the jeans.

One Night of Fire

One Night of Fire
Saturday July 29th : Sunset through Late
Location announced on July 28th.

On the first warm night of last year artists, performers
and over a thousand wild-eyed revelers took the streets of
Red Hook Brooklyn. It was a night of fireworks, march
bands, champagne, flatbed soundsystems and
police-helicopters set against the epic ruins of a
forgotten era. Saturday, July 29th, you are invited to
participate in the next iteration: “One Night of Fire”.

In an era of darkness, we light our own flame.

Imagine: a street, a train and a massive fire finale.
We’ve moved the date of this event in order to have
greater participation from you artists and dreamers who
have been so enthusiastic about making this night
unforgettable. For everyone who has desired participation
in these events, this is your chance.

Gnarls Biggie

gnarls-biggie.jpg

Do you have 35 minutes to spare? No worries if you don’t. The title pretty much says everything. DJ Unit, Sound Advice mashed up Notorious B.I.G. with Gnarls Barkley and the result sounds like, well, every other Notorious B.I.G. mashup. ‘Smiley Faces Hypnotize’ and ‘Crazy Butt’ will get a little extra replay. If you skip this one, just nod your head and play along when your boss mentions it on Monday. You can download it at Gnotorious.com.

NYPD Redefines ‘Parade’

Six months ago, in regards to Critical Mass, Criminal Court Judge Gerald Harris determined that the parade permit law is “hopelessly overbroad” and “constitutes a burden on free expression that is more than the First Amendment can bear.”

In response, the NYPD wants to redefine parade permit laws. According to the NY Times:

The Police Department wants to require parade permits for bicyclists traveling in groups of 20 or more, and any bicyclists or walkers who take to the streets in groups of two or more and disobey traffic laws for things like parades, races or protests, according to a public notice filed with the city.

The department also wants to require a parade permit for groups of 35 or more protesters who restrict themselves to the sidewalk, officially clarifying a regulation that court rulings described as too vague, according to a police spokesman.

Under this proposal, you and a friend or other person, would need a parade permit before cutting across the street mid-block, or riding bicycles without bells, or hailing a cab from the edge of the street, or volunteering to chaperone a horde of underprivileged children on a field trip to the museum.

A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for August 23, at 6pm in 1 Police Plaza.

Taking Beef to a Higher Level

fees-beef-small.jpg

Though beef is best left to the parties involved, this diss on Fees is so thorough it couldn’t be ignored. For those who can’t read iris blue on white:

1. Your Russian!
2. Your real ugly!
3. You can’t fight, so you use Mace!
4. You’re a big toy.
5. You have a bad haircut
6. You have no friends – because no one likes you! At all!
7. You never graduated high school.
8. You have a baby for reals, dunny.

No spelling or grammar was corrected, and no facts were checked. You can’t fact check a bad haircut.
